You must be leading the research process.
The work must be your own, from the choice of topic to the final argument and reflective statement.
My students are also required to work from one single document.
1. Meet all deadlines
Follow the EE timeline set by my school, including drafting, reflection sessions and final submission.
2. Conduct independent research and original writing
Take full responsibility for designing, planning and completing my investigation.
3. Choose an appropriate and manageable research question
Select a question that fits the subject or pathway requirements and can be answered within four thousand words.
4. Maintain academic integrity
I will:
cite and reference all sources correctly
acknowledge any external expert assistance using the required IB form
submit only work that is entirely my own
ensure my work follows ethical and academic standards
5. Complete the required reflection process
Attend all three formal reflection sessions
Write one reflective statement of up to 500 words on the RPF and submit it with my final essay
6. Use the Researcher’s Reflection Space (RRS)
Use the RRS to plan, record ideas, track research and reflect on my process.
I understand that the RRS is private, not assessed and not monitored.
7. Communicate with my supervisor
Maintain regular, professional communication, update my supervisor on progress and challenges, and use feedback appropriately.
8. Respond to feedback on one draft
Use my supervisor’s comments to revise and improve the clarity and structure of my work.
I understand that I will receive feedback on only one full draft.
9. Follow IB and school ethical guidelines
Ensure my research respects legal, ethical and safety requirements relating to:
health and safety
confidentiality
human rights
animal welfare
environmental impact
10. Submit all required work through ManageBac/Toddle
Submit drafts, the final essay and the completed RPF correctly and on time.
